CEC plans: Final results on June 26, their certification on July 6

The Central Election Commission (CEC) plans to announce the final results of Sunday's early parliamentary elections on June 26, and to certify them by July 6.

CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi, in a conference held on the afternoon of June 8, said that these two dates are only planning by the institution, as the announcement of the results and their certification, among other things, also depend on the complaints that the parties may file regarding the process.

"All of this depends on the progress of the activities, the dynamics of the activities that take place in these centers [Municipal Counting Centers]. Also, between the announcement of the final results and the certification, there is an appeals process, which must be carried out in various institutions such as the ECAP [Electoral Complaints and Appeals Panel] and the Supreme Court," he said.

Elezi announced that, out of 38 municipalities, the counting of votes for candidates for deputies began on Monday morning in 15 of them: Leposaviq, Novobërdë, Obiliq, Shtime, Shtërpcë, Zubin Potok, Zveçan, Junik, Mamushë, Hani i Elezit, Graçanicë, Ranillug, Partesh, Kllokot and North Mitrovica.

"Meanwhile, in the afternoon, activities will begin in the Municipal Centers of 23 other municipalities," he added.

According to the CEC spokesperson, the counting of votes for parliamentary candidates is expected to be completed within a few days.

Until now, the counting of regular votes has been completed – as it is done in classrooms immediately after the closing of polling stations – within a few hours of the end of voting. Now, the CEC verifies the votes for parties, in parallel with the number of votes for candidates.

Meanwhile, conditional votes, those of people with special needs and the diaspora - those from diplomatic missions and by mail - are also expected to be counted.

According to CEC data, 104,480 voters were registered to vote by mail, while 22,414 out of 27,724 Kosovo citizens living abroad voted in Kosovo's 30 diplomatic missions.

But, while the number of those who voted at diplomatic missions is known, for voters who chose to send their votes by mail, the CEC spokesperson said that verification of envelopes that have arrived in Kosovo from abroad must be awaited.

According to Elezit, not all packages have been received yet, so they do not have final data on the number of ballots.

He said that, after the ballots from the postal vote are withdrawn, it will be verified whether they were sent by registered voters.

"Before the start of counting ballots from these types of voting, the CEC will scan the voter lists that were used at the polling stations. This scan helps the CEC verify if there are any cases of double voting."

Elezi also announced that out of 52 conditional polling stations in 38 municipalities in the country, a total of 8,751 registered voters were identified. Meanwhile, 3,144 voters were registered in the voting program for people with special needs.

According to preliminary results, the Vetevendosje Movement of the acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, won the June 7 elections with 42.91 percent of the vote.

Following it are the Democratic Party of Kosovo with 21.08 percent, the Democratic League of Kosovo with 17.60 percent, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo – which has recently decided to be known as the Alliance – with 7.17 percent, and the Serbian List with 6.17 percent.

These were the third elections in less than a year and a half. The June 7 vote was held after the previous legislature failed to reach a consensus on electing a president within the constitutional deadlines./REL
