Norway's princess's health worsens, ready for lung transplant

The health of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit has deteriorated again, a spokeswoman confirmed on Tuesday.

As a result, the 52-year-old is not expected to be present when the Belgian royal couple visit Norway next week.

Mette-Marit suffers from a rare form of pulmonary fibrosis, a severe and chronic lung disease that causes scarring of lung tissue, leading to shortness of breath and other symptoms.

In December, the Norwegian Royal Palace said the crown princess's condition had worsened and that she would eventually need a lung transplant.

The wife of Crown Prince Haakon is under pressure after further details of her relationship with Jeffrey Epstein came to light, while her eldest son, Marius Borg Hoiby, is also currently on trial for multiple charges, including four counts of rape./ CNA
