Fire engulfs the facade of the post office building in Gjirokastra

A fire has engulfed the facade of the Albanian Post Office building in Gjirokastër. According to information, the flames threatened the Albanian Post Office building and the apartments located in the same building.

Firefighters arrived at the scene immediately and managed to extinguish the fire before it spread further. It is suspected that the flames started as a result of an electrical spark. 

"At 09:45, from the State Police Operations Room in the Gjirokastra Bazaar, near the Albanian Post Office, near the advertising boards, a fire broke out on the facade of the post office building. As a result of the fire, the Albanian Post Office building and the apartments located in the same building were destroyed.

"The service group immediately headed to the scene, where it intervened in time, isolating and completely extinguishing the flames. As a result of the rapid intervention, the fire was brought under control and eliminated without causing any other material damage or consequences ," the police statement said. /CNA
