At the press conference, the Minister of State for Local Government, Ervin Demo, also spoke about the protest that has been taking place for about a month against the government.

Demo said that in 36 days the protest has undergone a transformation because, according to him, it started with flamingos and then a coffin appeared in the square.

Regarding the protesters' demands, he said that those demands that are essential are being considered, while adding that three of them are the same as those of a political group. Among other things, he stated that the protest is in itself an expression of democracy.

"The protest in 36 days has undergone a transformation. It started with the symbols of flamingos, meanwhile after 6 days, a coffin emerged from the flamingo. This is an interesting journey for the messages that the protest itself will give. Through death, development or change cannot be perceived. The flamingos have migrated from the boulevard. We as a government have a duty to create the conditions for flamingos to feel at home everywhere. Referring to the demands, we are considering the demands that are inherent and have been part and are still part of the Albanian priorities. I believe that this protest brings increased energy and in terms of reforms as a whole. At a certain point, we are ready to talk to anyone who is inclined to real communication. Three of the demands were previously requested by a political group. They had also started collecting signatures for the Mountain Package. There is a place where communication should be clearer and certain initiatives should become an instrument to arouse attention. I believe that the protest itself is actually an expression of "This is a normal activity in a normal country. We cannot create a society where violence is an instrument of politics, to sow hatred. This does not bring either positive energy or normalization ," Demo said. /CNA
