A person has been arrested in Fier for a fire in the village of Drizë. According to official information, 20-year-old NJ has been arrested.

It is suspected that the young man started a fire on land owned by his father to burn some herbs, but the flames got out of control, covering a large area in the village of Driza and surrounding villages, causing material damage.

Police services evacuated 12 families whose homes were at risk from the spread of the flames. The fire was extinguished without any consequences for the lives of citizens.

He set fire to the land owned by his father, in the village of Drizë, but the flames got out of control and spread to the territory of several villages. The timely reaction of the Police led to the identification and arrest in flagrante delicto of the suspected arsonist.

Following the investigative actions to clarify the circumstances of the fire that broke out in the village of Drizë, Fier, the Crime Investigation specialists at the Fier Police Station arrested the suspected perpetrator, citizen NJ, 20 years old, resident of Drizë, in flagrante delicto.

This citizen is suspected of having, on 05.07.2026, lit a fire on land owned by his father to burn some herbs, but the flames got out of control, covering a large area in the village of Drizë and surrounding villages, causing material damage.

Police services evacuated 12 families whose homes were at risk from the spread of flames.

Thanks to the immediate intervention of the Police forces, fire services, groups of the National Security Force (FKS) - Fier Unit, as well as helicopters of the Armed Forces, it was possible to extinguish the flames, without consequences for the lives of citizens.

The Fier Local Police Directorate appeals for maximum caution from citizens, inviting them not to take actions that could cause arson, as they will face the law.

It also invites citizens to report any case of illegality to the number 112, guaranteeing anonymity and immediate response. /CNA
