Fraudulent messages/AKSK warns bank customers

The National Cyber ??Security Authority has made an announcement regarding fraud targeting bank customers.

In the announcement, AKSK says that citizens are receiving misleading messages urging them to act immediately.

According to AKSK, the messages contain claims of unusual activity or service disruption.

Regarding these messages, AKSK recommends that customers do not trust messages that require immediate action and never share their PIN.

Beware of fraud attempts that use bank identities

The National Cyber ??Security Authority (AKSK) has identified an increase in phishing and smishing campaigns targeting bank customers in Albania.

In these cases, malicious actors use the name, logo, and visual identity of banking institutions to send SMS or emails that appear authentic. Through them, citizens are urged to act immediately, by clicking on fraudulent links or sharing confidential data.

The messages often contain claims about:

?? unusual activity in the account;

?? blocking or suspension of service;

?? urgent need for data confirmation.

Their goal is to acquire banking credentials and financial data.

AKSK recommends:

Don't trust messages that require immediate action or create a sense of urgency.

Never share your PIN, password, OTP code, or card details via SMS, email, or phone call.

Verify any communication only through your bank's official channels.

Carefully check the page address (URL) before clicking on a link.

If you suspect that you have provided sensitive data, contact the bank immediately and follow its instructions.

Financial data security starts with being wary of any suspicious communications. Before you click or share information, stop and verify.
