Democratic Party MP Belind Këlliçi has accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of trying to give a false perception of the support he enjoys in public opinion.
According to Këlliç, publishing photos from concerts, beaches or other public activities, where citizens do not participate in protests, is an attempt by the prime minister to imply that they are in his support.
The Democratic MP states that this, in his opinion, proves the impact that the protest has had on the government, arguing that the prime minister has been forced to deal with the number of participants and popular support.
Këlliçi stressed that pressure, denigration campaigns and other forms of intimidation have been exerted against the protesters.
He added that in a democracy it is the vote that determines citizen support and called on the prime minister to resign, demanding the creation of a caretaker government that, according to him, would guarantee the holding of free and fair elections.
"Arithmetic that confirms Rama's crisis!
Edi Rama has started counting people wherever they watch matches, go to concerts, or lie by the sea, taking pictures of them and showing them as proof that there are also Albanians who are not protesting. Making it clear that these people are with him.
A ridiculous and constantly refuted attempt, as even at the height of their celebrations, young people have called out in chorus: Rama, resign.
These stunts performed by the prime minister actually show the magnitude of the protest, which is now in its 38th day.
The unity of the people in the square against corruption and arrogance has forced Edi Rama to go after them from day one. With meanness, espionage, stigmatization, blackmail, and aggressive campaigns against them, an entire state has mobilized to quell this movement. And they can't succeed!
Edi Rama's entry into the battle of numbers is one of the great achievements of the square. He was the one who did not question popular support. But now he is making calculations everywhere, he is showing people everywhere who are at their jobs with photos.
Nobody said that life doesn't go on. Only Edi Rama thinks that everything stops if he leaves. But precisely, by dealing with numbers, with figures, he is taking the debate to where the protest is aiming. To the vote.
In democracy, it is the vote that counts.
Since the corrupt autocrat lacks the responsibility, morals, and ethics to walk away from scandals, failures, affairs, and connections to crime, then let him at least do it with numbers.
Since he has started to single out those who are not against him, to resign, to create the opportunity for a technical and caretaker government so that we can have free and fair elections. Without blackmail, without threats, without patronage, without vote buying.
And that's where the arithmetic that is being applied these days in a diabolical way will come out! ", writes Këlliçi./ CNA
