The decision of the KPK remains in force / the KPa dismisses the Shkodra judge

The Special Appeals Chamber has upheld the decision of the Criminal Procedure Code (KPK) regarding Shkodra judge Tonin Sterkaj.

The KPK had decided on September 4, 2024, to dismiss Judge Sterkaj from office due to the negative balance in the asset criterion and the violation of public trust in justice.

The panel of the Special Appeals Chamber, composed of Rezarta Schuetz as presiding judge, Sokol Çomo as rapporteur, Albana Shtylla, Mimoza Tasi, Natasha Mulaj as members, announced the decision on case no. 52/2024, dated 16.12.2024, which concerns the appeal of the reassessment subject Tonin Sterkaj against the decision of the Independent Qualification Commission no. 795, dated 04.09.2024.

 

At the end of the trial in the deliberation room, the panel, based on Article 66, point 1, letter “a” of Law No. 84/2016, “On the temporary re-evaluation of judges and prosecutors in the Republic of Albania”, unanimously decided:

 

Leaving into force decision no. 795, dated 04.09.2024 of the Independent Qualification Commission, concerning the re-evaluation subject Tonin Sterkaj.

 

This decision is final and has immediate effect.
