The Mayor of Tirana, who is under arrest in Durrës prison, facing 13 serious criminal charges, and who has been endlessly postponing court hearings for the charges against him for almost 10 months, has sued prosecutor Ols Dado in the Administrative Court.

The lawsuit was filed on January 20, 2026, and two hearings have been held so far. The next hearing is on May 8.

The question is simple: What does Erion Veliaj want in "Administrative", even though he attacks prosecutor Ols Dado?

If the appointment of Ols Dado to SPAK was a concern here and a few years ago, the complaint from the SP by the deputies would have been made public, but at the time when Ols Dado was appointed prosecutor, when he passed the vetting at all levels and was appointed to SPAK, there was no complaint.

Ols Dado has gone through a real vetting process like many other prosecutors and judges. He has gone through all the steps, the property investigation, the professional investigation, which is more of a trial than the administrative one, since the vetting had the right to exclude you from justice, to remove you from office, but Ols Dado passed this.

There is no unfair appointment of Ols Dado. The appointment was made with a complete file by the Prosecutor General of the time, Ina Rama, who proposed it to the President of the Republic, who then appointed Ols Dado as prosecutor. This is a practice that is routinely followed in every case.

Regarding what Erion Veliaj and his lawyers say, that Ols Dado was appointed with a piece of paper: Everyone is appointed with a piece of paper. And when Erion Veliaj was appointed minister with a piece of paper, he was appointed with a presidential decree.

What does it require from the Administrative Court?

Simply and only to overthrow prosecutor Ols Dado, who has actually passed his vetting.

He has also been subject to administrative and criminal trials, his assets and professional career have been checked, while Erion Veliaj's assets have not even been checked, he has not yet been investigated by SPAK, and this is a big question mark, not to mention Veliaj's professional side and great achievements since the "5D" file, the incinerators and the 13 serious criminal charges against him.

Erion Veliaj is simply seeking to create a storm in the Administrative Court and he is doing this by using lawyers, lobbyists, and law firms to attack prosecutor Ols Dado with the aim that the court, unable to withstand the pressure of the attack from all sides, will call the appointment of prosecutor Ols Dado administratively unjust, so that Erion Veliaj can then say that the acts made by SPAK prosecutors are invalid, null, since the prosecutor was appointed to office illegally, therefore he was in violation of the law and as such the investigative acts fall.

This is Erion Veliaj's true goal.

Erioni doesn't care how Ols Dado was appointed, or how Klodjan Braho was appointed, or how Altin Dumani was appointed, because all SPAK prosecutors and other district prosecutors have passed their vetting.

Erion Veliaj does not have this problem. He knows very well what the purity of their image is, what their integrity is and what their value is, but this time, caught with 13 serious criminal charges, professionally investigated by two prosecutors, he seeks to overthrow one of them with the idea that he can escape the charges.

In fact, Erion Veliaj is not fighting a battle with justice to gain innocence, but is fighting justice to save his skin from serious criminal charges and is not going to face court, but like a coward, is hiding.

He doesn't go to court, face the charges, even cooperate with justice, free his wife from the charges, free other businessmen, whom he has dragged into the hole he himself has sunk into, but chooses to play games in the Administrative Court in the hope that he will escape.
