AKEP meeting with electronic communications operators/ Focus on the new

The Electronic and Postal Communications Authority (AKEP) has recently approved the Regulation "On the implementation of the General Authorization regime", an important sub-legal act in implementation of Law No. 54/2024 "On electronic communications in the Republic of Albania". 

Following this development, AKEP organized an information meeting with electronic communications operators, with the aim of presenting the new regulation and discussing the practical aspects of its implementation.

This meeting aimed to inform operators on the new regulatory requirements, obligations and procedures, as well as to foster an open dialogue on the effective implementation of this new framework.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of AKEP, Gentian Sala, as well as other representatives from AKEP, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy (MIE), and representatives of electronic communications operators.

During his speech, AKEP President Sala emphasized that this regulation constitutes one of the most important acts following the entry into force of the new law on electronic communications. He underlined the importance of its implementation in practice, considering this as the first step towards a more consolidated and functional regulatory framework.

Sala also stated that, although there has been a relative lack of inspections this year, the goal is that through a clear regulatory framework, the inspection process will also gain greater value and effectiveness.

The regulation aims to facilitate market entry for operators, strengthen competition and guarantee the provision of services in accordance with legal standards and user protection.
