The Deputy Chairman of the Tirana Municipal Council, Dorjan Teliti, today described Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj as a man who has completely lost any kind of influence in that institution.

In a television interview, Teliti said that the best solution to the situation is to hold local elections.

Teliti raised accusations regarding the way the Municipality of Tirana is being treated and that this municipality requires legal normality.

"Currently, Mayor Erion Veliaj has lost any kind of administrative and political influence in the municipality. I can say that the four new positions in the Municipality of Tirana have been delegated by the Prime Minister. The Municipality of Tirana is being treated as a cake division, not as a local government. At the moment that we do not have a Mayor of Tirana, the right solution for his re-election is local elections. We must return Tirana to legal normality. Regarding dismissals in the municipality, an order of the Prime Minister cannot violate the laws. We are approximately two months after the elections and we still do not know how many Albanian voters have voted. Every day we are coming up with new facts about the May 11 elections.
