The advisor for economic affairs at the Democratic Party, Dorjan Teliti, spoke today regarding the situation of the tourist season in Albania.

In an interview on 'Syri Tv', Teliti emphasized that this year there is a 40% decrease in tourism production.

Teliti said that the main reason is the fact that several policies that should have been implemented years ago were not followed.

"First, we need to tell you some facts now, as the figures for the first half of the tourist season have also come out. The tourist season this year is 40% less in sales. So, the products consumed and the premises occupied, the tourist season will produce 40% less than last year and this is a terrible alarm bell to be honest.

On the other hand, the interventions that the prime minister is making regarding the illegal constructions that they themselves have allowed to be built, the infrastructure that was invented overnight as if it did not exist, for weeks, months, years, under the eye and with the blessing of the local government that is mainly managed by the Socialist Party.

Moreover, this part of the interventions has been used as an excuse, so since people and Albanians say: look, this season was not very successful because the government made these interventions. No! This season is not successful because in Albania, in Albanian tourism, those reforms were not followed that should have been undertaken years ago when we raised the alarm bell that we said: We should not be satisfied with foreigners coming to Albania, but we should do our best so that these foreigners return to Albania for a second time.

And the problem that Albanian tourism has is that, yes, last year there was tourism with high figures, but unfortunately that bubble that was created ended. That was it," Teliti said. /CNA
