Diaspora vote counting/ Balla calls: Parties to allow the process to continue

The Political Leader of the Socialist Party for the Diaspora, Taulant Balla, has made several statements today regarding the process of counting votes from the diaspora. Referring to the envelopes received at the CEC by Albanian citizens who voted for the first time by mail in the May 11 parliamentary elections, Balla stated that there have been attempts to prevent the announcement of the final result.

Balla said that according to the information he has, about 25% of the votes remain to be counted.

Balla demanded that the process be completed in a normal manner and called on all political entities to convey such a message.

"There are attempts to prevent the announcement of the final result. We must understand all the demands. We are not in the contestation phase. Every vote and envelope has arrived at the CEC and is administered by it. There are duties of this hall and these counters. After this moment, the conclusion for each competing entity of these elections follows. On Sunday evening, a person came and told the commissioners not to count. About 75% have been counted and about 25% of the ballots remain to be counted. Things are clear and I do not make any comments regarding the competences of the CEC. As a representative of a political entity, I request that the process continue normally and this should be done by all representatives of every political entity", said Balla.
