"We don't miss Russia"/ Rama: Albania stands by Ukraine

During the joint press conference of Prime Minister Edi Rama with his British counterpart Keir Starmer who arrived in Tirana this Thursday, statements were made regarding the Ukraine-Russia situation, among other things. In his speech, Rama emphasized that in almost the last three decades, no Russian president or prime minister has set foot in Albania, referring to the relations between the two countries.

Rama stated that Albania has been on Ukraine's side since the beginning.

Rama added that in this regard, Albania also follows the vision of Europe, always oriented towards peace.

"You are in a country where, since the regime change from a dictatorship to a democracy 35 years ago, no Russian president or prime minister has set foot here. And no one from here has flown to Russia. We do not miss it and we are not seeking to change it. But this is a long history related to our history with the former BS and Russia. Having said that, I want to say that we have been on Ukraine's side from the beginning. We are aware that although this country has the longest-serving prime minister in NATO, it does not have the power or weight of other countries to play any major or decisive role, but we must not forget that we are blessed to have been born on the continent of enlightenment and with the space of humanity where the dream of eternal peace was born without light and Europe itself is a project that has always been oriented towards peace. We will do everything to have the power to defend freedom, values, and we must never give up on the search for peace. Sometimes it seems unfair, but "It is the nature of being European, and of being on the side of humanity, not barbarians," Rama said. /CNA
