"We left the darkness behind"/ Rama speaks about the transition: We

Prime Minister Edi Rama said today that the political transition in Albania was the first step towards Europe, which was forbidden to Albanians during communism.

In his speech at an event in Tirana, Rama shared some of the difficulties and challenges of Albanian consciousness in those years, when thousands of people flocked to ships or other routes to cross the border.

"Europe was completely banned. Films and art were treated as something low. It was a brutal deprivation of half a century that transformed us into those who loved it most, Europe. And when we left behind the darkness, where was the country when the very first moments of the final coup took place. There was no country that came out of communism that shouted Europe in their slogans. We said that we love Albania like all of Europe. Love was not exactly what Europe had in mind, when it had in mind for us. We even felt troubled that we took ships, mountains and dangers and borders to embrace our beloved Europe. We began to familiarize ourselves, but we knew the European languages ??that we had learned to understand what was happening beyond. We saw the milestones set for integration and absorption capacity and so bilateral analyses, mechanisms and European guarantees continue", - said Rama./CNA
