GJKKO suspended Balluk from duty/ Rama: We unconditionally respect the decision

Prime Minister Edi Rama, in today's press conference, also spoke about the decision of the Judicial Council to suspend Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku from office. Rama said that although it is an extreme case, the government will unconditionally respect the decision of the Judiciary.

"The suspension of a minister and in this case also the deputy prime minister is another manifestation of those weaknesses I mentioned, of a completely new government and anti-democratic reflexes. This is a unique case in the history of Europe and the special justice bodies that were created in the European integration processes of the countries of the former communist alliance. It has never happened that a prosecutor and a court have come together and suspended a member of the government from office. But if a prosecutor and a special judge have decided to suspend a minister, violating another independent power, our choice in this case is the strategic one, to protect the independence of the Judiciary even in this extreme case. We will not engage in a rhetorical political battle with justice. We will unconditionally respect the decision of the Judiciary", said Rama. /CNA
