Growth Plan Summit/ Rama: Roaming fees between the EU and the Western Balkans

Prime Minister Edi Rama is giving the opening speech at the launch of the Growth Plan summit “Our Path to the EU.” Rama has described the Growth Plan as a roadmap not only towards the European Union, but towards the freedoms and opportunities of the European common market.

He has stated that roaming fees between the European Union and the Western Balkans will end in 2026. According to him, Roaming is not about phone bills, but about removing another artificial border between our citizens and Europe.

"Welcome to Tirana, the city where trust in Europe is so great. The Western Balkans have chosen to move forward together with the Growth Plan, our shared roadmap. A roadmap not towards Brussels, but towards the freedoms and opportunities of the European Single Market. The trains of regional cooperation have started and we have remained on the platform. Europe was not built by sitting around waiting, but by acting. We are here to build gold that it is ours to build today. People do not feel integration, they feel lower costs, easier, faster travel, freedom of movement. Roaming tariffs between the EU and the BP will end in 2026. Citizens will feel the effect in their pockets. Now with the finalization of the legal basis by the EC, there is a program between the EU and the Western Balkans that will end the tariffs. It will be our next success after SEPA. Roaming is not about phone bills, but about the removal of "another artificial border between our citizens and Europe," Rama said. /CNA
