Mero Baze, or as we call him "Old Man Mere", in his newspaper "Tema", has once again written one of his usual, abusive articles against SPAK, regarding the State Department's report on Human Rights in Albania for 2024.

Mero Baze says that "the US has ascertained before us the fundamental defect of SPAK and the new justice in Albania."

But, in fact, this is an abusive title and does not at all reflect the truth of the report and what the State Department has emphasized.

There is nothing against SPAK in the US State Department report, but "Old Man Mere" reads it however he pleases.

The State Department report, regarding pre-trial detention, emphasizes that detention should not exceed the time limits set by law and does not provide any case of pre-trial detention.

"The law requires that most preliminary investigations be completed within three months, but the prosecutor has the right to extend this period. Detention should not last more than three years. According to the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Prisons (DPB), no cases have been reported where persons have been held beyond the time limits provided for by law," the DASH report states.

Regarding the case of Erion Veliaj, which Mero Baze mentions in his article, the detention period is one year and the investigations were closed within 6 months.

"Old Man Mere" reads the report as he pleases, perhaps because of Veliaj's age and troubles, we have said that he will spend a lonely and very bad old age.

Erion drinks raki in prison, Mero suffers outside and now he's making it up, while the report doesn't say anything like that, it doesn't deal with SPAK, but this is "Old Mere", he's always been like that.

It used to stand under Sali Berisha's desk, now it doesn't even fit under Edi Rama's desk, but it has remained under Erion Veliaj's prison bed, nothing more than that.

That's why he probably reads the US State Department reports with the language of a terrorist.

The DASH report has nothing to do with what Mero Baze, whom we have decided to call "Old Mere," reads because a friend of his once said that he would have a very lonely and very bad old age.

Apparently, premature old age has set in and we don't know how to help him, but day after day we will remove the mask of deceit and take him where he belongs, to an asylum with the elderly, simply and solely for these shameful, unstoppable deceptions, abuses, as if DASH has rushed SPAK, where in fact there is nothing of what Mero writes and claims and then raises as an analysis.

But it's not your fault. Now these miserable, lonely old people have such consequences, especially in the circumstances you live in, with your past and your fear of the future.

SPAK has no fundamental flaw. The only flaw is Mero's miserable old age, who is not even able to become like his "father" Saliu./ CNA
