It began to be created in the first two mandates of the left-wing government, but in the third, the Republic of Directors, it is a visible public reality. They are a handful of high state officials, with a special identikit, which makes each one of them a twin to the other. In general, they are unknown names without public contributions. They are young, vain and full of ambition. They are deeply in love with the euro, designer clothes, expensive wine, casinos, meetings with famous fortune tellers, traveling abroad and investing in real estate.

They appear in public mainly in the electoral campaigns of the respective leaders and use that time as a political passport for the post-electoral work they do. They pretend to worship the prime minister when they accompany him on his tours, but in reality they only idolize the authority in charge of them. With that authority they tie the umbilical cord of their own destiny. The vast majority of them run like little tyrants the public plot they have in charge. In the Republic of Directors, each director feels like an all-powerful prime minister, unthreatened by any opposition.

They usually have almost zero public visibility, with the exception of social networks, where their wives or girlfriends advertise the life of "Rich Boys/Girls" around the world. They usually spend their weekends abroad, often in exclusive groups and exclusive accommodations, where they pay only in cash. The wisest of them have not withdrawn the "tax free" at the border crossing points for years. They used to do it because they knew so much!

It has been a while since the founders of the Republic of Directors have become the object of public attention, often out of jealousy for the fate of the chosen ones and just as often in the hope of having their own. They are found in central and local government. And they are one of the reasons that inspired the entry in the political vocabulary of the day of the words: apples, pears, peaches, strawberries and tangerines. All the innocent fruits that filled the menu of Rama's associates at the table where they partied behind his back. Most likely, cherries will also be added to this dictionary. And it will be mission impossible to find any unwashed grain in the cherry and strawberry canister of the government.

The arrest of an important director in the Ministry of Infrastructure and, earlier, of his brother in the municipality of Tirana, the warnings that a similar fate will follow the investigations launched for a long time of their twins, has raised it to a next level fear and evil premonitions. For the first time, it has surpassed the Prime Minister's Aesopian warnings about them and about them, the opposition's denunciations and the writings in the media. The bags of money they have won, there is no minaret that hides them anymore. They are not covered either by the fluid alliances and financial honors that a part of the power centers in power creates with the opposition against the rivals in government, nor by the piloting and sponsorship in the media of mutual attacks.

The arrest of the next senior director is only one significant link in the chain of directors that seems to be broken even further. Even now, it is a question of a winter season for important and long-lived directors, who will have to move around with the cell of their houses where the furniture alone costs hundreds of thousands of euros. And maybe it doesn't end there. SPAK is knocking on the threshold to listen to the heavy doors of real power.

It is enough to appreciate that almost all public works are tendered with the maximum value and that the processes are red flagged, to understand that the public investigation for budget expenditures is similar to shooting in the crowd. No matter where the barrel is turned, no shot is missed.

The balance and control of powers, where the Republic of Directors has its share, which had been denatured for a long time, is now creating a new balance thanks to the intervention of the most significant segment of the justice reform, SPAK. Despite the impatience of the public, whose pace of hope for justice cannot match the speed of the investigations, the reversal is happening and this is only the beginning. Altin Dumani was wrong a few days ago in Shkodër when he called the end of impunity as a concept within the next five years as an objective. This moment has already arrived and not only the power of the directors and the prime minister, but the entire republic of sinners, yesterday and today, is feeling that the worst is still on its way to meet them.
