Rama is not fought with "pro-Western" hypocrisy
Andi Bushati

Anyone who has followed the sharpest Greek analytical pens, who have commented on the situation of Tirana-Athens relations, after the manipulated sentence of the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, has surely noticed a common denominator. In a part of them, which Lapsi.al has translated and published, in order to better understand the opinions circulating on the other side of the border, a special point of view towards Edi Rama can be noticed. Without hesitating to consider him responsible and guilty for the created situation, they appreciate him for the strength he has gained and for the international support he has managed to secure.

There is almost no article where the "adversary", who is accused of setting fire to two decades of Greek-Albanian relations, is not described as the darling of the USA, as an autocratic leader who has managed to silence Brussels, Berlin and Rome for the sins of his power. In this regard, mention is made of Blinkenken's visit, the pact to receive refugees with Melon, or the Afghan collaborators of the Americans, the establishment of the NATO base in Kuçovo and the capture of justice with the blessing of our Western allies.

So, although it seems clear that Athens is preparing for battle, with what former Prime Minister Antonis Samaras considered as "a regime that cannot have a place in the EU", our southern neighbors see its power realistically. They admit that thanks to the concessions that Albania has been able to build with pieces, thanks to alla McGonigal lobbying, Edi Rama is a strong opponent.

Of course, this profiling Greek political scientists and analysts do from their point of view, affected by the nationalist sedra of someone who feels that they have broken their noses unjustly, hurt in the dignity of the disrespected neighbor, but what matters to us, in all this picture, is the realistic view that they are facing an "enemy" that is not easy and with support.

Precisely this approach contradicts, fourfold, what the majority of rivals and critics of the autocratic prime minister have adopted inside the country. They are ready to make a fuss about any criticism that comes from the Western media, to be caught by a hair's breadth after any resolution without decision-making importance, to be exalted for any balanced statement of any avdall ambassador. They delude their followers with the illusion that "just America" ??will punish the satrap who bribed the FBI agent, or that Europeans will no longer tolerate what has turned the country into a giant port from which Colombian cocaine is exported. towards their shores.

At the core of this refusal to see reality clearly, lies the reluctance and fear to admit that the Albanian regime is an autocracy that stands thanks to Western support. Acceptance of stolen elections, turning a blind eye first to cannabis and then to the infiltration of hard drug money into construction and tourism, permission to use the new justice as a whip against political rivals, all have the same source. By pretending not to see it, the opposition becomes unreliable and the prime minister's critics hypocritical, since there can be no real rivalry with the opponent without recognizing his real weight and reckoning with his strengths.

An honest battle with Edi Rama must also be defined through the denunciation of those western circles that have put themselves in the service of killing democracy in this country. There is little doubt that the target could be Europeans or Americans, the truth that the opponents of the regime believe should uncomplex them from any taboo.

The example of what is happening in Kosovo, where the figure of leaders who defend the interests of the country and their principles, even when they conflict with what their allies are asking for, is being elevated in public, is a testimony that shows that the Albanians have achieved maturity to break away from inferiority complexes. They need leaders who tell them the truth and not hypocrites who wave the flags of the West and when the messages coming from there gild the image of autocracy.

For this reason, what is happening in Athens should be seen as a laboratory where Albanian oppositionism can be forged.

Of course, not in terms of the often morbid and folkloric Greek nationalism, but for their ability to recognize the real size of the opponent they are facing. Even in Albania, to be against Edi Rama, in addition to settling accounts with the oligarchs, the media and his phalanxes, you must also be aware of the opposition of a powerful international coalition that he has by his side.

Is this an impossible battle? No one can bet on that. But one thing is certain: defeat will be inevitable for all those who will continue to be sold both as friends of the ambassadors and as "enemies" of the dictator.
