Internet piracy/ Europol operation in 27 countries, including Albania and Kosovo

Europol has launched an operation to remove websites that offer counterfeit goods or are involved in online piracy.

Albania and Kosovo as well as 25 other countries are included in this operation.

Europol has shut down 12,526 websites from these countries, taken down 32 servers used to distribute and host illegal content for 2,294 TV channels, and shut down 15 "online" shops selling counterfeit products on social media sites.

In the physical field, investigators seized 127,365 counterfeit products such as clothes, watches, shoes, accessories, perfumes, electronic devices and phone cases worth more than 3.8 million euros.

During the operation, 10 search warrants were issued and 14 people were detained or formally charged with intellectual property crimes.

According to the preliminary results of the investigation, the main suspect in this investigation earned up to 150 thousand euros per month and lived a luxurious lifestyle in a luxurious house, driving expensive cars and embarking on extravagant vacations all over the world.
