Trump asks Balkan countries to accept migrants deported from the US

President Donald Trump's administration is pressuring Serbia and other Balkan countries to accept migrants deported from the United States, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday.

The requests to countries in the region are part of a broader U.S. strategy to find foreign governments willing to accept deported immigrants, Bloomberg reported.

Last month, the U.S. Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration to revoke the temporary legal status of hundreds of thousands of Venezuelan, Cuban, Haitian and Nicaraguan immigrants living in the United States, bolstering the Republican president's push to speed up deportations.

The Trump administration has been looking at potential destinations for immigrants who could be deported as a result of the decision, the Bloomberg report said./ CNA
