The Kremlin has confirmed that President Vladimir Putin has had a telephone conversation with Pope Leo XIV, which is also the first conversation between them.

According to foreign media, the Kremlin confirmed this conversation, after previously stating that Putin had also had a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump.
