"The security of Europe and Ukraine is stronger thanks to you"/ Von

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has reacted to the resignation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. In her response on the “X” platform, Von der Leyen praised his contribution to strengthening European security and support for Ukraine.

He also thanked Starmer for the work he had done in less than two years in office. During his term, London and the EU signed a new partnership on security and defence, creating a joint military cooperation structure.

Von der Leyen also praised Starmer's strong support for Ukraine. Under his leadership, Britain signed a 100-year partnership agreement with Ukraine and, together with French President Emmanuel Macron, helped create the so-called "Coalition of the Willing" to support Ukraine's security.

"It takes many leaders years to become the statesman you have become in just two years. The security of Europe and Ukraine is stronger because of you. Thank you, dear Keir," Von der Leyen wrote.

In February this year, London allocated an additional 200 million pounds to prepare a multinational force that would help guarantee any future peace agreement. /CNA
