Syria responds to Trump/Excludes Syrian military intervention in the conflict in

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa has ruled out the possibility of Syrian military intervention in the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

His statement came after comments by US President Donald Trump, who suggested that Damascus could play a role in resolving the crisis.

Al-Sharaa stressed that Syria does not seek military involvement, but supports a political and peaceful solution. According to him, the priority is to stop the war and strengthen Lebanon's state institutions. He added that Damascus seeks economic cooperation with Lebanon, not a military path.

Meanwhile, Trump has criticized both Hezbollah and Israel. He has expressed dissatisfaction with the way Israel is conducting the war against Hezbollah, saying that the operations are taking too long and causing heavy civilian casualties.

According to him, this situation could also jeopardize the negotiations between the US and Iran that are taking place in Switzerland.

On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the continuation of the Israeli military presence in southern Lebanon, arguing that the security zone is necessary to protect Israeli citizens from Hezbollah threats.

Al-Sharaa also stated that, if it is in the interest of Lebanon and Syria, he does not rule out the possibility of dialogue with Hezbollah to help find a political solution. /CNA
