"Serbia remains a threat", Ditmir Bushati: Do not allow the escalation

Former Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati says that the actions inspired by Belgrade in the north of Kosovo prove that Serbia remains a threat to regional stability.

According to him, guaranteeing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Kosovo, self-restraint and coordination with international partners to prevent the escalation of the situation, remain matters of primary importance.

"A few months ago, three Kosovo policemen were kidnapped by Serbian forces. At the same time, KFOR troops, journalists and Kosovo police were attacked by Serbian criminal gangs. Today, one Kosovo policeman was killed and two others were injured.

These actions inspired by Belgrade prove that Serbia remains a threat to regional stability, despite the West's efforts to bring it closer to the EU, especially in the context of the security environment in Europe, as a result of Russian aggression in Ukraine.

While our thoughts and prayers are with the family members and colleagues of Afrim Bunjak who lost his life in the line of duty, as well as for the speedy recovery of the injured policemen, the work of the police and the legitimate institutions of Kosovo must be supported to guarantee order and the rule of law in accordance with the Constitution.
