Vote recount/CEC: The process is expected to be completed by the end of the

The Central Election Commission expects the recount process for the remaining polling stations to be completed by the end of this month, based on the dynamics of the process taking place at the Counting and Results Center.

CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi told the media that in early February, this institution is ready to announce the final results for the December 28 snap elections.

"The announcement of the result does not mean the end of the electoral process or the certification of the result ," he said.

The timing of the certification of the results, said Elezi, will depend on the complaints that subjects or candidates for deputies may file regarding the results at the Electoral Panel for Complaints and Submissions and then at the Supreme Court, after the final results have been announced.

"We are aware that the recount process removes the dilemma regarding this result. However, it is within the right of political entities to file an appeal against the result announced by the CEC," said Elezi.

The certification of the result is done after the deadlines for complaints and the obligations that may arise for the CEC from the decisions that may be made by the ECAP and the Supreme Court, and after this, the way is opened for the formation of new institutions.

76 counting teams are working at the CNR, counting regular votes starting from 08:00 until midnight, and so far, over 75 percent of polling stations have been recounted at the CNR.

Earlier in January, the CEC decided to conduct a full recount of votes, after previously deciding on a partial recount due to the emergence of vote discrepancies regarding candidates for deputies.

The municipality of Prizren is considered to have the largest difference in votes among the candidates, and this prompted the justice authorities to act. Last week, by order of the Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren, 109 people were detained for manipulating the election results. 23 of the detained commissioners were sentenced to one month in pre-trial detention.

Investigations into possible electoral abuse have also begun in other municipalities, including Ferizaj and Malisheva.

Only after the certification of the results can the eleventh composition of the Assembly of Kosovo be constituted, which must then elect the country's new executive. /REL
