Gun attack at Mexico stadium leaves at least 11 dead, 12 injured

A shooting at a stadium in Mexico left at least 11 people dead and 12 injured, local authorities said.

The attack occurred after a match in the city of Salamanca, in the central state of Guanajuato, where an armed group opened fire on spectators and players.

Ten people died immediately at the scene, while one injured person died later in hospital. Among the injured are a woman and a child.

Local authorities and the state attorney's office said they are investigating the incident and are cooperating with federal authorities to strengthen security.

The city's mayor described the attack as part of a wave of crime and violence in the area and appealed for help from the central government to control conflicts between criminal gangs that have increased murder rates in the region. /CNA
