Investment in Tropoja's hydroelectric park/ Rama: Albania will become a

Prime Minister Edi Rama announced today that the new investment in the wind energy park in Tropoja will be a strategic step towards diversifying energy sources and making Albania a sovereign country in energy production.

He added that, historically, the country has been dependent on rainfall, purchasing energy during periods of drought and losing production opportunities during periods of abundant rainfall.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the project is part of a portfolio that diversifies solar, wind and water energy, aiming to achieve a balance by the end of the decade where 30% of production will come from renewable sources and any excess energy will be exported abroad.

He also praised the transparent process in selecting projects, emphasizing that there were no complaints from participating companies and that the government supported investors in overcoming local obstacles.

"This wind energy park in Tropoja will enter the wind energy projects in the country. It has taken an example in several countries before arriving in Albania and we will benefit from renewable energy and new knowledge in the energy sector."

This investment goes in the strategic direction of making Albania a sovereign country in energy production.

We have inherited a system with many cracks due to its dependence on rain. In the absence of rainfall, we were forced to buy energy, while in periods of high flows we spilled water and had no capacity to produce energy.

We will be in the category of those countries that have diversified their energy sources.

Today, what were until yesterday the wounds of the Albanian state, are the vanguard in their administration and their proper functioning. Today we have a portfolio of projects that has begun to develop, where solar and wind energy have begun to take their place and where, by the end of this decade, the energy balance will be 30%. This means that any surplus over our needs we will export abroad.

"We have implemented a highly credible process. There is no serious company in these competitions that has expressed dissatisfaction with the project selection process. The government has been by their side even when they have had obstacles at the local level," Rama said./ CNA
