"Reading the Gospel gave meaning to my life"/ Archbishop Joan: Only

The Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and all Albania, His Beatitude Joan, spoke this evening about his spiritual journey. In an interview with journalist Ferdinand Samarxhi, Archbishop Joan said that faith often overcomes reason.

His Beatitude said that reading the Gospel gave meaning to his life, while emphasizing that it is only God who can fulfill man.

“We grew up in a period where faith was forbidden, forbidden from the outside and could not control people's hearts. In my life journey, I was in the 4th year of high school, I had just learned French and a book fell into my hands that was the New Testament and when I read the book I felt something different. The way it was written convinced me that it was true. Faith cannot be explained by reason alone but it is not beyond reason, but it is something that often transcends that. Even in everyday life when someone tells us something, the way they tell it makes it more real. It brought me great joy when I read it. Then I began the journey trying to find more information to understand more.

Even reading the Gospel at that time was forbidden. But everyone has their own unique journey. The paths to God are different and every person is different, but the Gospel began to give meaning to my life. My desire and preaching has always been for people to find their true purpose in life. I believe that only something very great can fulfill a person. I believe that only God can fulfill a person. Reading the Gospel gave meaning to my life,” said Archbishop Joan. /CNA
