IGJEUM: Rainfall increases flows in some rivers, risk of flooding

The Institute of Geosciences has shared a new forecast regarding the situation in the country regarding hydrometeorological conditions.

According to calculations, as a result of the heavy rainfall, today there is an expected increase in flows and levels in all rivers. The rivers Ishëm, Erzen, Mat, Shkumbin, Seman and Vjosë will have an increased risk of local flooding today. Tomorrow, Monday, the 12th, a decrease in flows and levels in these rivers is expected.

The Drin-Buna River and Lake Shkodra will continue to experience increased flows and levels and the risk of increased flooded areas in the Nënshkodra area.

Temperature and frost:

This afternoon and tomorrow, as a result of low temperatures in the North, East and Southeast of the territory, frost may create various problems and difficulties in road transport.

Precipitation:

This afternoon and tomorrow, light rainfall is expected in the regions of Kukës, Elbasan, Berat, Korçë, Vlorë and Gjirokastër, while locally light rainfall is expected in other regions.

In the North, East and Southeast at altitudes above 600 m above sea level, precipitation will be in the form of snow.

Temperature:

Tomorrow, minimum and maximum air temperatures are expected to reach:

on the coast: 0 / 5 °C

in lowlands: -3 / 5 °C

in mountainous areas: -10 / -1 °C

Wind:

Today and tomorrow the wind is expected to blow light to medium, while medium to strong on the coast and in mountainous areas./ CNA
