Heavy snowfall in the Qafë Thana area/ Snow removal vehicles on the ground

Heavy snowfall has resumed in the Qafë Thana area, in the territory of Pogradec. Currently, vehicle movement is carried out without the use of chains, while contractors are on the ground carrying out continuous salting and cleaning of the road axis.

It is specified that, after the blockage of the Qukës-Qafë Plloçë axis four days ago as a result of landslides, Qafë Thana currently remains the only open axis connecting the southeast of the country with central Albania, making this segment vital for traffic.

According to forecasts, snowfall is expected to continue in the coming hours. To ensure traffic, several snow removal vehicles have been put into service on this axis, while temperatures currently mark 0 degrees Celsius. Authorities call on drivers to show increased caution while driving. /CNA
