Flood situation in Shkodra/ 266 hectares covered by water

The situation in the territory of the Municipality of Shkodra appears stable, with water levels below critical quotas and no problems identified. According to periodic field monitoring, conducted today, 10.01.2021, at 08:00, the hydrological situation continues to be under control.

Water levels in the Buna and Drin rivers remain within safety parameters, although an increase of about 10–20 cm has been recorded over the last 24 hours compared to the previous day. At the Old Buna Bridge, the water level has reached 8.30 meters, while at the Bahçallëku Bridge, the Drin River marks the quota of 8.05 meters. In the Dajç administrative unit, the water level is reported at 6.48 meters.

In the territory of the Municipality of Shkodra, the total flooded area is estimated at around 266 hectares. Authorities confirm that there are no flooded homes or the presence of water in residential areas.

In the Ana e Malit administrative unit, the road to Obot continues to be blocked for low-riding vehicles, while it is only passable for high-riding vehicles, as the water level above the road reaches over 50 cm. The area of ??flooded agricultural land in this area is estimated at around 130 hectares, mainly in the villages of Obot and Muriqan.

In the Dajç administrative unit, about 35 hectares of agricultural land have been flooded, mainly in the Pentar area. Meanwhile, in the Velipojë administrative unit, the area of ??agricultural land affected by the floods reaches about 101 hectares.

The Municipality of Shkodra announces that the situation is under continuous monitoring and currently a tendency of water withdrawal is observed from the areas where it has been present.
