Elbasan hit by extreme cold, some areas without electricity

The Elbasan region is facing low temperatures, especially in mountainous areas, where the thermometer has dropped below -10°C. On some mountain roads, temperatures have reached -15°C, forcing authorities to intervene continuously to ensure the movement of vehicles.

The Elbasan–Qafë Thanë road has suffered snowfall, but its cleaning and salting have kept it open for traffic. Meanwhile, there has been no snow on the Elbasan–Gjinar and Elbasan–Tirana axes, but works to prevent frost continue.

As for rivers, the Shkumbini and Zaranika streams are decreasing and do not pose a risk of flooding. Discharges from the Banja HPP continue at controlled levels, while authorities are expected to decide on their continuation during the morning.

There are also problems with the electricity supply in Tunja, as well as in the Kushovo and Skënderbegas areas of Gramsh Municipality, but teams are on the ground and working to repair the defects./ CNA
