Journalist Eni Ferhati stated this evening that SPAK has acted with a double standard for the former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, who was banned from leaving Albania and assigned a "compulsory appearance measure".

Ferhati said that this security measure is an amnesty for Ilir Beqaj, as the court has requested a deepening of the investigations.

He emphasized in Euronews Albania that a heavier security measure should be given to the former minister.

"I expected a heavier security measure. I expected that I have read the whitewashed decision. Today, Ilir Beqja is accused only of "abuse of duty, carried out in cooperation". While the court says extend the investigations further. He risks 1 to 2 years in prison, which is the margin for this criminal offense, based on the sentences received by former high officials.

What did Ilir Beqaj waste his office for, just for fun?! Did he waste it out of ignorance, or for other reasons?! Logic says that he squandered it to have potential benefits, when it comes to a concession with such great values. Therefore, I am looking at a second amnesty for Mr. Beqaj with this criminal proceeding. There are rare decisions by judges who tell SPAK - look, there is more room, or you were wrong about the criminal facts", stated Ferhati./ CNA
