A few minutes after CNA reported the scandal that Albania has been left without a chief negotiator with the EU, after SPAK set the security measure with the mandatory appearance and ban on leaving the country for former minister Beqaj, the latter has reportedly resigned from the position of director for the Agency. Earlier, Prime Minister Edi Rama had appointed Beqaj to head Albania's negotiating group with the EU, a decision which was taken at the time when the scandal broke that the former minister was implicated in the 100 million euro sterilization concession affair.

Today, GJKKO, at the request of SPAK, has banned the former minister from leaving the country, as well as the obligation to appear once a week on Fridays at 3:30 p.m.

It has also prohibited him from leaving the territory of the Republic of Albania without the authorization of the court.

Also, the former minister was banned from using his passport and other valid identification means for going abroad.

The decision to set the measure of personal insurance was executed by the National Bureau of Investigation and the General Directorate of the State Police on 17.11.2023.

Beqaj is under investigation as he is suspected of abusing his duty for the sterilization concession procedures.

It is also learned that a property investigation has been requested against him by the Special Prosecutor's Office.
