Meeting with the President of the EC/ Rama: Plan to open all negotiation

The joint press conference of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the President of the European Council, António Costa, is taking place at the Prime Minister's Office. Costa arrived in Tirana this Thursday afternoon and will stay to participate in the Summit to be held on May 16 in the capital.

In his speech at the conference, Prime Minister Edi Rama emphasized Albania's plan to open all chapters within this year.

Rama said that this is an ambitious plan and the EU, like never before, is eager to accept new members, based on merit and results.

Rama also praised the role of the President of the European Council, António Costa, for the work done with the country.

"It is a special pleasure for us and a pleasure to meet again with the president. He is a dear and wise friend. We are here after the president has visited the entire region and has also stopped in Titrana because he will also be present at the Summit's proceedings. We discussed the points that connect us with the EC, with the process towards the path of membership. Today, Albania is officially at the negotiating table with 16 open chapters and we aim to open all of them within the year. The plan is to manage to close the negotiations within 3 years.
