This Friday, a protest will be held against the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, after the arrest of the directors for abusing tenders and profiting millions with the "5D" company.

The protest will be held at 11:00 in front of the town hall, where the urgent resignation of Erion Veliaj will be demanded. Afterwards, the citizens will move in front of the Special Prosecutor's Office to notify them of the request.

The protest was organized by the Alliance for the Protection of the Theatre, while the opposition parties and citizens joined it.

We remind you that on March 28, arrest warrants were issued for the 3 directors of the Municipality of Tirana, Redi Molla, Mariglen Qato and Taulant Tusha, while 6 other officials were forced to appear.

Tusha was arrested in December 2023 and is under accusation for the affair with the Tirana incinerator.

SPAK's investigations show that the directors of Veliaj had created the company "5D" and had benefited from dozens of municipal tenders.

In the conversations of the employees, the mayor of Tirana is also mentioned for shares in a Redi Molla hotel in Durrës, but Veliaj denied it.

CNA  has learned that investigations are continuing and SPAK may arrest other directors of Erion Veliaj involved in corruption./  CNA
