MP Jorida Tabaku has raised another concern about fiscal inequality and the preferential treatment that the government gives to those connected to power.
Through a post on social media, Tabaku has harshly criticized the current tax system, which, according to her, penalizes honest citizens and favors oligarchs.
"An unfair tax system!" writes Tabaku, denouncing the fact that in Albania labor is taxed more than capital.
According to her, a worker, a small entrepreneur, or a freelancer pays 23% income tax, while government clients benefit from free land, tax exemptions, and personalized favors.
Tabaku emphasizes that inequality in the economic system is deeply rooted, turning it into a mechanism that penalizes the majority and rewards a small handful of people close to the government.
"At the end of every month, citizens pay expensive bills for energy, water and fuel, while government oligarchs benefit from fiscal incentives and guaranteed profits from concessions," Tabaku says, underlining that this economic model does not support work, skill and talent, but favors clientelism and injustice," she writes./ CNA
