Will the investigation against Veliaj/Gjiknuri harm the SP?: There are costs

The Secretary for Organization and Electoral Affairs at the Socialist Party, Damian Gjiknuri, spoke about the investigations being conducted against Mayor Erion Veliaj.

In an interview for the show "Pa Censurë", asked if this situation will harm the SP, Gjiknuri stated that this depends on the role of the individual and the overall context.

According to Gjiknuri, if the individual has committed it within a political philosophy with criminal intentions, these certainly harm the SP, but if the individual has abused his duty, has committed a violation and the SP is not involved as a party, in those actions that are taken, the SP does not have to bear the maximum cost, but he does not rule out that the SP may incur a cost from the investigations against the mayor.

"I do not like colleagues from my party who can be accused and proven guilty, however, it depends on the role of the individual and the overall context. If the individual has committed it within a political philosophy with criminal intentions, these definitely harm the SP, but if the individual has abused his duty, has committed a violation and the SP is not involved as a party, in those actions that are taken, the SP does not have to bear the maximum cost. It may bear a little cost, here and there, but these are normal", said Gjiknuri.

He emphasizes that the electorate is able to separate the party from the individual.

"There is no doubt that the electorate shares this, but what the electorate knows how to share very well is which of these forces, alternatives, who has proven that they know how to govern better, who is more reliable in the promises they make, who is better for the interests of the voters and in this way they vote. To date, the best alternative has been the Socialist Party", said Gjiknuri./ CNA
