Session at the CEC for Beler/Lawyer: Invalid procedure, you have no competence

Sessions begin at the Central Election Commission for Fredi Beler's mandate. 

Fredi Beleri's lawyer, Klodiana Gjyzari, stated at the meeting that this is an invalid procedure and that the CEC has no competence to make such a decision. 

"It is an invalid procedure and that the CEC has no competence to make such a decision. The state is based on laws. The CEC cannot be put to work at the request of an individual. The CEC has given the mandate in 2023 , how can you review a year later? This is not the case," she said.

The Court against Corruption and Organized Crime decided a few months ago to sentence the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, to two years in prison, accused of active corruption in the elections of May 14, 2023. /CNA
