Prime Minister Edi Rama is in Brussels for an official visit, where he held a meeting with the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa.

It was previously reported that the meeting would discuss the country's integration negotiations process into the European Union and the progress of this process.

Albania has not yet been able to receive the Report on the Assessment of Standards for the Reform of the Judiciary for Chapters 23 and 24, called IBAR. Without the approval of this report by the member states, the process of closing the group of chapters cannot begin. In the meetings so far at the ambassadorial level, there have been requests for concrete evidence of senior officials convicted with final decisions and sequestration of their assets.

Meanwhile, with the new negotiation methodology, an EU member state may, in these circumstances, request a return to the starting point. Chapters 23-24 on the Judiciary were opened first and closed last. /CNA
