"The government will subsidize the private insurance supplement",

Prime Minister Edi Rama, through a video posted on social media, spoke about the minimum wage, which he said will increase from January 1, 2026.

Rama said that the minimum wage will reach 500 euros in January 2026.

This increase, Rama said, will not be the only one of this mandate and further the minimum wage will reach 700 euros.

Further, the Prime Minister stated that the government will subsidize the additional cost of insurance for employees in the private sector for a period of 9 months.

" The lion's share of the 2026 draft budget is taken by pensioners, for whom we start 2026 with an additional 100 million euros in addition to indexation. There are about 1.7 billion euros more that pensioners should get back from their investment for our fourth governing mandate."

"From January 1, 2026, the minimum wage will also increase, 307 thousand and 850 employees, who will receive the promised amount of 500 euros. It will be the first, but not the only increase of this mandate, where the minimum wage will reach 700 euros. Not only that, the government will also subsidize for a 9-month period, with 90 million euros, the cost of the insurance supplement, for employees in the private sector ," Rama declared./ CNA
