The Deputy Mayor of Tirana Municipal Council, Dorjan Teliti, commented today regarding the situation of the capital's leadership, following the decision given yesterday against Erion Veliaj.

Invited to A2 CNN, Teliti stated that after the decision, the real violations committed by Veliaj during his mandate should also be shown.

Teliti added that the Democratic Party aims to liberate Tirana and that the candidate continues to be Florjan Binaj.

"From the beginning, we warned that Erion Veliaj's absence from the Municipal Council would be used as an excuse to later save him with a court decision. That's what happened. The draft decision was intentionally shallow and not legal. The mayor cannot even make a decision for 20 thousand lek economic aid without the Council's approval, let alone take over 96 million euros for the incinerator. The fact that a week before the Constitutional Court's decision, Ms. Manastirliu was appointed to the Electoral Reform Commission shows that the Socialist Party knew the final result. The concrete daily management is done by Manastirliu and Balluku. But Rama always stands above them. If there is a will, we will liberate Tirana. We will demand that the decision be enriched with the real and verifiable violations of Veliaj. We have the candidate, Florian Binaj, and he has the support of the entire opposition," said Teliti. /CNA
