"Albania has made progress in the fight against corruption"/ Gahler: We remain disappointed by Kiev and Belgrade

Member of the European Parliament Michael Gahler, during the presentation of the progress report on Albania, said that the fight against organized crime and corruption is deepening in Albania.

The MEP stated that Albania needs to do more, but has made significant progress.

Gahler criticized Serbia and Ukraine for insufficient reforms in the fight against corruption.

"Ukraine is reflecting on the mistakes it has made in this process. It has been seen what has been done with the anti-corruption system. When we stop at Serbia, we remain disappointed by the situation that has been created. The biggest problem that citizens there present is corruption and this must be taken into account by the government in Belgrade.

This is also happening in Albania, but where the fight against organized crime is deepening, there is progress to be highlighted in Albania, also in the fight against corruption.

"I think deadlines are needed because they bring about the realization and practical implementation of tasks. The Albanian state has some problems, more needs to be done in the fight against corruption, but they have achieved progress in vetting, social protection ," he declared./ CNA
