The Committee on Legal Affairs and Public Administration has reviewed the draft law "On some additions and amendments to law no. 9616, dated 27.9.2006, "On the book in the Republic of Albania", as amended".

The draft law was introduced by Deputy Minister Lira Pipa, who stated that it aims to improve public access to books and regulate the publishing market.

Pipa said that in parallel, work is being done on the copyright law. The Deputy Minister raised the problems of the current law and said that it no longer responds to the times.

" The initiative aims to establish stable foundations, improve public access and regulate the publishing market, aiming to return the book to the center of culture. The current law no longer responds to changes because the digital transformation makes intervention necessary.

This change aims to respond to technological changes and adapt to the times.

At the National Center for Books and Reading, we will have a legal provision for digital books and publications for people with disabilities.

Work is also underway on a draft law on copyright related to digital copies.

"A Council will be established consisting of the director of the QKLL, the director of the BK, the meetings will be free of charge, 2 members will be from interest groups, this council will be consultative," Pipa declared./ CNA
