Balla: Quota for gender equality in the Assembly, an undisputed merit of the SP

The head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, declared today that achieving the goal of fulfilling the gender quota in the Assembly is the merit of the Socialist Party.

In his speech to the Committee on Europe and Foreign Affairs, Balla said that in the future the aim is to achieve an even higher quota represented by women, which according to him was unimaginable until 1946.

"Equal quota between men and women, 50% women and 50% men. It is an indisputable merit of this political force sitting on the left of this hall, that today in the Albanian Parliament we have the largest number of girls and women that the Parliament has historically had. And don't forget that we started from 1920 and until 1946 without a single woman in the Parliament. Today we have the largest number, where I hope that one day we will reach 70 members being women, but even more", - said Balla. /CNA
