New Code of Ethics for Teachers/Manastirliu Introduced: Professionalism and

On the eve of the start of the new school year, the Ministry of Education and Sports presented the new Code of Ethics for Teachers at a meeting with teachers, which sets out clear principles of professionalism, integrity and cooperation, strengthening respectful relationships between teachers, students and parents and setting new and measurable standards for the quality of teaching.

During her speech, the Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, said that the Code of Ethics is a document that goes beyond the administrative framework and emphasized the inclusive process in its drafting, where key education stakeholders were heard and included.

"Today we present the new Code of Ethics for Teachers, a document that is not simply an administrative instruction, it is a guide, a moral and professional compass for every Albanian teacher. This code was built by listening to the protagonists, we have discussed at length the drafting of this code with teachers, administrators, parents' councils, we have heard your stories, concerns and expectations. The result is a code that unites the best Albanian tradition of respect for teachers with the best European standards of ethics and integrity. It is a new contract of trust between teachers, parents, students and of course the state. A contract that establishes the teacher not only as a professional, but as a leader, as a model, as an example that inspires an entire society", said Manastirliu.

The Minister also focused on the pillars on which the Code of Ethics for Teachers is based.

"The Code is founded on three main pillars: the professional and personal integrity of the teacher, the safety and well-being of students. Inclusion, transparency and the relationship with parents, the community and students.

Ethics in social networks and virtual spaces: The teacher is a public figure even in virtual reality. We have established clear provisions for communication with students, data protection, and maintaining a professional image in social network spaces.

Student safety is an absolute priority for all of us. This code has been included to be drafted in our safety plan and to strengthen the mechanisms that we have today within the school to combat any form of violence and bullying inside and outside the school, so the teacher also through this code has an active role in preventing any form of violence and discrimination, being an integral part of the safety mechanisms inside and outside the school.

Inclusion and transparency: This code emphasizes equality and non-discrimination, based on European standards of inclusive education. Transparency is essential, especially in relations with parents and the community. Ethics in dress and public behavior: The teacher must have a professional appearance worthy of his mission, he represents the school even outside its walls”, declared Manastirliu.

Manastirliu said that this Code is necessary to guarantee that schools train not only professionals, but also responsible and equal citizens, and for this we need teachers with integrity, equipped with clear principles and new standards. /CNA
