Democratic Party member Ilir Alimehmeti spoke about the flood situation in a television appearance.

Alimehmeti said that the problem in Durrës was the malfunctioning of the hydropower plant, while also recalling the floods in Tirana.

The Democrat said that these floods are the result of wrong actions in the management of the territory and as a result of lack of investments.

Alimehmeti also touched on fires during the summer season, saying that firefighters are not equipped with the necessary equipment.

Generally, if you look at the Shkodra area or the Lezha area, because of the geographical situation. I'm not an expert on that. I'm simply an observer that these have been areas that have had floods from time to time. Not other areas. Tirana didn't suffer, but we forget Tirana when that first flood happened? Just as those canals were removed on the side of the highway, those canals were softened, some palm trees and some things were planted there, and one of the biggest floods that Tirana has ever had happened. When has anyone else ever seen Tirana? So much so that the concrete curbs of the highway were moved. If you remember. The water was so big that it reached the curb and poured out from the other side. Yes, this is true, we have seen it with all our eyes. Why didn't this happen before? Why did it happen right then? That there were mismanaged actions of the territory. And there was a lack of interest in dealing with it. And let's not invest at the end of the day because... like the fires that I remember years ago, in '25 that were put out with bushes. Same thing.
