Alimehmeti: Albania in 'national emergency', governed by anti-national

Democrat Ilir Alimehmeti was present this Friday at the opposition roundtable organized by the Democratic Party.

In his speech, Alimehmeti stated that Albania is in a "national emergency," accusing the current government of incompetence.

According to Alimehmet, the country is governed by anti-national people, who are damaging not only public finances, but also the future of younger generations.

"First of all, thank you all for being here. I also thank the audience because I know that among them there are people who are thinking about whether or not to join this initiative, absolutely to overthrow a government an hour ago. Thank you, Dr. Berisha, for this invitation and organization. Let's say one thing clearly, all of us, without repeating ourselves. We are in a national emergency. To be clear, I mean, I'm not talking here about natural disasters that hit us every summer and every winter and we find ourselves facing a state incapable of dealing with them. We are in a national emergency because we are being governed by anti-national people. By anti-values, by anti-morals. This is the truth. They are not only stealing our funds, because we talk a lot about funds, but they are stealing the future of our children.

They are stealing everything that this state represents here. And in the end, we, all of us, yes, we have made our choice, yes, and those who listen to us, must decide, will they take the role of spectator here, or will they take the role of actor here? Because there is a need for action here. It is not simply a matter of us saying things. They think, they give us moral justification, but we need to understand that we must move towards action. And I often hear, we have different opinions. Yes, we definitely have different opinions.

Can we put them on a common platform? We can definitely do that too. But the first question is, really, how different are these opinions? So, how do we stand against depopulation? How do we stand against moral and financial corruption? How do we stand against drug trafficking? What about the family, how do we stand? Because we stand for the family. We stand for freedom, we stand for faith, we stand for property, we stand for the nation. We stand for a Western orientation of Albania, right? What about us? We must stand on every threshold. From the doorstep, where we have a duty to go and explain and talk to people, to the threshold of institutions, where we must lead their revolt. Does this pass through the street and the boulevard? Yes, it definitely passes through the street and the boulevard. But it must pass through strongly, sustainably, in an escalating manner. Because this government is not being thrown away with words. "It's not even thrown from conference rooms. It's thrown from out there, by acting, by talking to people and together with you, by going there to show them the place they deserve. An anti-national country, a person who is anti-national, does not deserve his place among this nation, let alone above this nation," Alimehmeti said. /CNA
